Lists of different techniques/types of animataion

1) Drawn animation- this covers any form where one drawing is replaced by another in a sequence. Each drawing is slightly different from the one before. It works the way a flipbook does. These animated films are made up of thousands of drawings which are shown on screen very quickly one after the other. It takes a very long time to film from start to finish and requires many animators to complete the work.

2) Cut-out animation- this covers any form of animation where cut-out shapes are moved around or replaced by other cut-outs. Flat objects like buttons, matchsticks and string can also be used in this form of animation. Cut-outs can also be laid on top of drawings. It is very quick and easy to do but difficult to have more than one or two objects moving at the same time. Cut-out animation can appear very stiff and awkward.

3) Stop-motion animation- this involves the filming of three-dimensional models. The materials used could include plasticine, clay or wire - in fact anything that can be bent or formed into another shape. The puppets are positioned and filmed before being moved ever so slightly and filmed again. These shots are put together as a piece of film and will give the impression of the models moving.

4) Computer animation- this refers to the drawing of three-dimensional models and sets on the computer. Images can be scanned into the computer using digital photography or made within the computer itself. Human characters can be built from clay whilst sets and furnishings are modelled using design systems similar to architects drawings.

Evaluation for animation techniques

Improved

For my strengths I thought I did very well with showing step by step of how I improved the animation. Another thing I thought I did well was the choices of shapes of the moving object.

However I believe I could of got a higher grade if i spent more time and thought into the animation. Another thing could of been adding a bit of a background to make it more interresting. One last thing could have been adding more moving objects to make it show a mor eof an understanding of this project.

Overall I think the animation went well which made it show I had a fairly good understanding of this project. My created grade I got was a pass, so there was other work I could of done to make it better. e.g added a background or added more objects that would move. However I thought I did well with uploading seperate videos to show the progress I made with the animation. So I'm pleased with the animation although other things could of improved it.

Evaluation for audio production (recorded poem)

Improved

For my strengths I thought my main idea of changing a serious poem to sarcastic one went well as an idea. Another thing I thought I did well was showing I had a good understanding of  what the original poem makes you feel. e.g. relaxed.

For my weaknesses I could of taken more time into the recording. This is because It sounded rushed and not very well done. (should of also put ore effort into it because it sounds to short)

I thought that the recording of the poem (When Roses cease to bloom) went fairly well as it is quite a serious and intellectual story. I believe my main strength was the main idea of turning it into a more funny recording by putting on a different voice. I did this because the original poem sounds like the poet Emily Dickinson is expressing and wanting a mans love and I wanted it to sound like she was obsessive and strange. However I think my main weakness was the fact I rushed it which made the recording sound not as good as it could of. Also I wish I spoke in a more slow pace because the poem seems to be to short. Overall I thought the recording of the poem went well, although I wish I took longer on this project.
